Welcome to the website of the internationally-acclaimed design studio of Hinchcliffe and Barber.
John Hinchcliffe and Wendy Barber started designing and manufacturing ceramics and textiles in 1983, quickly establishing themselves as a force in the market. Their simple traditional shapes and distinctive hand-decorated pieces, often in blue and white, offered a welcome change from the ceramics available at that time.
Hinchcliffe and Barber creations went on to sell internationally through numerous major stores, including Harrods, Harvey Nichols and the John Lewis Partnership in the UK, Lord and Taylor in New York, and Isitan in Japan. Their work has also featured extensively in leading style magazines.
Hinchcliffe and Barber are also closely associated with spongeware - and their Blue Spongeware, with its complementary fabric, is a design classic.
